4. But, first Supper celebrated in closed circle of disciples (Mt 26:18,20).
5. Neither did the Apostolic Church practice “open” Communion. (1Co 11:20; 10:17).
D. To be admitted are:
1. Such as have been baptized.
a. Day of Pentecost, converts were called on to accept Baptism, not to receive Communion (Ac 2:38).

(2) that Christ gives them this priceless gift for the remission of sins.
b. This provision excludes Christians in Reformed denominations.
(1) There are children of God among those still preaching Christ’s vicarious satisfaction.
(2) But, they lack right understanding of, and therefore faith in, the words of institution.

2. Members of heterodox bodies.
a. Must first have severed their connection with that body.
b. Must have declared acceptance of the true doctrine before they commune with the congregation.
3. It can not be overlooked that the Lord’s Supper is private absolution.
a. Can only be given to him only who, as far as we are able to judge, sincerely repents.
b. “Open Communion” is a soul-destroying mingling of Law and Gospel.
4. In vain is love, or charity, appealed to in defense of “Open Communion”.
